Projects We Love: Pure Fitness

A Healthy Dose of Inspiration At Pure Fitness

Aside from being our greatest asset, Health is now a massive business where industry leaders are delivering cutting-edge facilities that generate long wait lists for gym-junkies and design enthusiasts alike.

Operating in such a competitive space, brands have recognised that focusing solely on the mind and body simply isn’t enough. Pandering to a refined sense of aesthetic while breaking a sweat has seen Pure Fitness lift the game in Asia with not only their state-of-the-art equipment, group exercise exhilaration, innovative programmes and personal training to fulfil every fitness aspiration, but the considered design of their studios across Asia has seen an industry revolution in the region.

 Introducing Pure Fitness, Asia

Designed by Elaine Jamieson, founder of Hong Kong based interior design firm, Positive Partnership, Pure Fitness and their boxing studios, indoor climbing centres, yoga and Pilates studios, swimming pools, meditation spaces, cycling dens, personal training areas, dressing room and even healthy eating spaces (hello Nood Café) represent a major revival of heath and wellness interiors.

The palette of Pure Fitness exudes energy, with natural timbers used to balance and create a more calming effect.  Adding to the energy of each gym, yet supporting the functional requirements, Bolon features throughout Pure Fitness centres across Asia. According to Elaine,

“the strength, durability and vibrancy of Bolon lends well to fitness” and features in lounge areas, dressing rooms, offices, walkways, fitness areas, reception and communal areas.

“Bolon was also chosen in the yoga studios for the acoustic benefits and comfort underfoot”.

The imperious nature of Bolon and its resistance to mould were key factors when selecting a suitable floor covering in a relatively humid environment. With the large number of fitness enthusiasts using the space, it was also “important for the floor to be easy to clean and long-lasting”.

“Over time and as I’ve become more familiar with Bolon, my designs have become more playful”, as evidenced by the use of bold colours and Studio shapes throughout.

“Sometimes I don’t have walls to work with, so I use the floors as my creative outlet. Each gym is recognisable, and the floor plays a big part of that”.

So, dust off your activewear, grab yourself a gluten-free nutrient-rich snack and visit Pure Fitness and Yoga to please your mind, body and eyes.
