Q: Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your background in the design industry?
A: My name is Edgar, and I’ve been working in the design industry for over 10 years. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, with my biggest achievement being the Gleneagles Hospital. I started my journey in sales at JEB, focusing on furniture for eight years, which has given me a solid foundation in understanding how design elements come together in any space.
Q: What specific experience do you have with flooring, and why do you believe it’s important for projects?
A: Flooring is a fundamental aspect of any project—it sets the tone for the entire space. My experience has taught me that every project needs a floor that not only complements the design but also meets functional requirements. At Bolon, I’m excited to bring my insights on how high-quality flooring can enhance the overall aesthetic and usability of a space.
Q: What types of projects inspire you the most?
A: I’m particularly inspired by large-scale educational projects, such as those I’ve worked on with CNDIS. I believe that well-designed spaces can significantly impact learning environments. Additionally, I’ve collaborated with organizations like AIA, China Everbright, KPMG, and have experience with hotels and airports, where the design must meet both aesthetic and practical needs.
Q: How does your background align with Bolon’s values and product offerings?
A: Bolon values innovation, sustainability, and high design, which resonate deeply with my own principles. My experience in various sectors has taught me the importance of creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful, aligning perfectly with Bolon’s mission to provide high-quality, sustainable flooring solutions. I’m excited to leverage my background to highlight how Bolon’s products can elevate architectural projects.
Q: What is your personal connection to Hong Kong, and how does it influence your work?
A: I was born in Hong Kong and spent 15 years in the UK for my education. This blend of cultures has shaped my design sensibilities and understanding of global trends. I am passionate about contributing to the local design community and am eager to collaborate with architects and designers here to create impactful spaces that reflect our unique identity.
Q: What are you looking forward to in your new role at Bolon?
A: I’m looking forward to building strong relationships with architects and designers, understanding their needs, and showcasing how Bolon’s innovative flooring can be a key element in their projects.
