Jessica Fayers – 10 Years With Bolon

Q&A with Jessica Fayers, Area Manager – Southeast Asia

To celebrate Jessica Fayers’ 10-year anniversary with Bolon, we sat down with her to reflect on a decade of innovation, sustainability, and design evolution. As the Area Manager for Southeast Asia, Jessica has witnessed firsthand how the design landscape has transformed and how Bolon has adapted to stay at the forefront of the industry. In this special Q&A, Jessica shares her insights on design trends, Bolon’s achievements, and what excites her most about the future of sustainable design.

Q: Jessica, you’ve been with Bolon for over a decade now. How has the design landscape evolved during that time?

Jessica Fayers: The design world has undergone a significant transformation over the past 10 years. One of the most notable changes has been the shift toward sustainability and the growing emphasis on environmentally responsible design. Designers and architects are no longer just focused on aesthetics; they are now equally concerned about the impact of their projects on the planet.

Another major trend is the rise of flexible, multi-functional spaces. As workplaces, homes, and public areas adapt to changing needs, there’s been a surge in demand for materials that are not only beautiful but also practical, durable, and versatile. Technology has also played a key role, enabling more intricate designs and seamless integrations with other elements in a space.

Q: How has Bolon adapted to these changes in design and the growing focus on sustainability?

Jessica Fayers: Bolon has always been a pioneer in design and sustainability, but over the past decade, we’ve really doubled down on our commitment to creating a circular flooring solution. One of our biggest achievements is reaching 68% recycled content in our products, while also ensuring that every square meter of Bolon flooring is climate-neutral.

We’ve also embraced innovation with systems like our Floorlife no-glue installation system. This system allows Bolon to be easily lifted, reused, or recycled, which drastically reduces lifecycle costs and landfill waste. It’s an example of how we’re thinking beyond just the product itself to consider its entire lifecycle.

On the design side, we’ve continued to push boundaries, collaborating with world-renowned designers like Patricia Urquiola and Missoni. These partnerships have allowed us to explore bold colors, textures, and patterns while maintaining our focus on durability and sustainability.

Q: What are some of the design trends you’ve noticed in Southeast Asia specifically?

Jessica Fayers: Southeast Asia is such a dynamic region, and the design trends here reflect that energy and diversity. Over the years, I’ve seen an increasing emphasis on blending tradition with modernity. Designers are incorporating local cultural elements into contemporary spaces, creating designs that feel authentic yet forward-thinking.

There’s also a growing appetite for sustainable materials in the region, with more clients asking for eco-friendly solutions. This aligns perfectly with Bolon’s ethos, as our flooring offers a combination of sustainability, functionality, and high-end design that fits the needs of modern projects in Southeast Asia.

Q: What do you see as Bolon’s biggest achievements over the past decade?

Jessica Fayers: One of our proudest achievements is becoming a leader in sustainable flooring. We’ve worked tirelessly to reduce our carbon footprint, and our production is now fully climate-neutral. Bolon has also made significant progress in material innovation, developing products that not only meet but exceed sustainability expectations.

Another highlight is our ability to stay ahead of design trends while maintaining our unique identity. By collaborating with leading designers and continually innovating, we’ve ensured that Bolon remains at the forefront of the industry.

Bolon’s ability to adapt to clients’ needs, whether through flexible installation systems or creating flooring that performs in high-traffic environments, has been a key factor in our success.

Q: What excites you most about the future of design and Bolon’s role in it?

Jessica Fayers: I’m excited about the increasing alignment between design and sustainability. More than ever, clients and designers recognize the value of choosing eco-conscious materials, and that creates an incredible opportunity for companies like Bolon.

I’m also looking forward to seeing how technology continues to shape the industry. From advanced manufacturing techniques to digital design tools, the possibilities are endless. For Bolon, this means we can continue to innovate and create products that are not only beautiful but also contribute to a sustainable future.

It’s also inspiring to see how design is becoming a tool for creating meaningful change, whether through more inclusive spaces, environmentally responsible materials, or designs that bring people together. Bolon is committed to being a part of that journey, and I’m thrilled to see what the next decade holds.

Q: Any final thoughts?

Jessica Fayers: Working at Bolon for the past 10 years has been an incredible journey. It’s been amazing to witness not only the evolution of the design industry but also Bolon’s growth as a company. I’m proud to be part of a team that’s so committed to innovation, sustainability, and creating flooring solutions that truly make a difference.
